studioMilou Lecture in Porto October 2023

Last week, studioMilou presented two of its more recent museum projects during ICOM’s ICAMAT Conference in Porto on ‘Undoing Conflict in Museums: Materiality and Meaning of Museum Architecture and Exhibition Design.’ The program of speakers was excellent, with representation from specialists worldwide, and great attendance. All thanks go to the organizing committee, including, among others, Nana Meparishvili, architect, heritage specialist and educator, and Chair of ICAMT, Georgia, Danusa Castro, museologist and cultural heritage professional and Co-Chair of ICAMT, Italy.

Our presentation, focused on the National Gallery Singapore and the Da Nang City Museum, Vietnam, was presented by studioMilou’s founder and lead designer, Jean Francois Milou, and our Director of studioMilou Vietnam and senior partner/designer Trung Nguyen. The full range of speakers, moderators and the organizing committee is in the program below.

In this key note lecture, trung Nguyen and Jean Francois Milou presented how the expansive simplicity and evenness of museum architecture at is best lies in simple resolution of complex multidimensional problems, allowing visitors to enter in a simple experience of space and light.
